Cloudy With A Chance Of Forgetting To Prep Dinner

It's 5PM, you are just walking in the door. One needs help with homework, one needs to picked up from practice and the hub is walking in soon with the famous, "What's For Dinner, Hon?" question. Ahhhh!!!

Before you cover your ears, let's chat about how to get into the habit of prepping dinner first thing in the morning, instead of 5, 6 or 7PM at night. There are a few tricks I have up my sleeve that are not only going to make your life less stressful but also have you pinching yourself and wondering why you have not done this before. It's OK, who thinks about dinner first thing in the morning anyway? YOU ARE....STARTING NOW!

OK..so here are 10 of my tips to save time later!

  1. Unload the dishwasher & set the table for dinner while you're at it.

  2. Unwrap, trim, cut and dry any meat fish or tofu you are having.

  3. Measure ingredients for vinaigrette into a jar and chop any garlic.

  4. Line any sheet pans with tin-foil or parchment paper.

  5. Measure and drain any rice, pasta or bean for the night.

  6. Fill pots with water if need to boil later.

  7. Chop onion, celery, carrots or broccoli. Basically anything that needs chopping, chop in the morning.

  8. Certain meals can even be prepped ahead of time and just reheated. Ex. Chili, Stir Fry, Pasta Casseroles

  9. Soups are a great thing to also make first thing in the morning. Let it simmer while getting ready and can even dump it in the crockpot on warm all day.

  10. Form any type of burger or meatball in the morning. Refrigerate and pop in oven, grill or stove-top later in the day.
