When you hear the word “bark” what comes to your mind?  Trees? Rover?  I’m going to share a little secret with you.  My favorite “meaning” of this word has to do with CHOCOLATE and that is not all!  Bark just may be one of the most fool-proof desserts you will ever create.  It starts off with simply deciding which chocolate you want to use as your base and then swirling in any type of mixers your heart desires!  Ready for the real kicker?  When finishing off these pieces of food art, you actually want them to break up uneven!!  Since Halloween is a mere stones throw away, I wanted a little festive action going on.  Dark chocolate was my foundation of choice this time and I continued to build it with some chopped up OREO pieces, M&Ms White Chocolate Candy Corn, and orange sprinkles.  This just may be one of the easiest desserts you will ever make, but nobody will ever have to know..shhhhh….

Ingredients

  • 1-9.9 ounce bag M&Ms white chocolate candy corn
  • 10 double stuff OREOs crushed
  • 1-8oz. bag bittersweet chocolate chips (I prefer the Ghirardelli that has 60% cacao)
  • Fall sprinkle colors of your choice
Directions

1.)  Line a 9x 12 baking sheet with wax or parchment paper. (I like to cut it out to form fit the base of the pan; If you don’t have this size baking sheet then use a baking pan lined with tin foil.)
2.)  Pour chips into a microwave-safe bowl and cook for 2 minutes; stirring after 1 minute until chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
3.)  Spoon chocolate onto the pan creating a thin even layer.
4.)  While chocolate is still warm, spread M&Ms and OREOs on top and press gently to set.  Sprinkle on Sprinkles.
5.)  Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes OR until nice and firm.
6.)  Remove from pan and break into irregular pieces. Store in an air-tight container.
Nic’s Tip – When breaking up my pieces, a few too many m&ms fell off.  Next time I may try drizzling a bit more warm dark chocolate on top to act as glue.
